Hey lovelies, hope life is treating you all fabulously!
I’ve just been going through some of my old travel archives and I came across my trip to Thailand from 2005. Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 14 years since my very first trip abroad. That’s so long ago, yet I remember it like it was yesterday.
The usual tradition for high school graduates in Australia, well Melbourne anyway, is to go to Queensland for a week long party known as schoolies. Being the unicorn that I am, I didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing. So myself, and two other girls decided we’d wait a year and go to Thailand instead.
I can’t remember exactly how long our trip was for, around ten days I think, but we visited Phuket, Bangkok and Koh Samui. We ventured to the famous island known as Phi Phi Island, ate some amazing food and haggled our way through the markets. I realised quickly that I’m a terrible haggler, but I had fun trying.
I would love to venture back to Thailand now that I’m older and can appreciate it more. I have my sights set on volunteering in Chang Mai at the elephant sanctuary. Ahhh, the dream!
