Morning! Is anyone else freezing like I am right now? I love a good snow day but other than that, winter and I aren’t really friends. The only thing about winter I do enjoy is being inside with a hot drink. There’s just something so comforting about curling up with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate, getting out a good book and getting cozy under a blanket. Whose with me?
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll already know that I love herbal tea. And a few weeks ago I was introduced to the two new additions in T2’s Brews with Benefits range (my favourite Australian tea company) and I was immediately hooked! So I’m here to share their deliciousness with you all.
So, I love herbal tea. Yes, it’s a fact. Especially when it comes to travel. What I don’t love, is that $5 price tag that comes with purchasing a cup of tea at airport cafes. I mean, do you really need to charge that much… come on.
I knew there had to be a way to make my tea obsession affordable whilst on the go – and well, I was in luck. There was! Most airport restaurants and in-flight services will give you a cup of hot water for free, so before I travel I make sure to stock up on my favourite blends and pack them into my carry on. T2 is always my go to because they sell boxes of 25 or 60 teabags for as little as £8 (I’m in the UK right now), so naturally this is what I’m going for because they’re going to last me quite a few trips. I’m all about value for money.
The last trip I went on, I took with me the two new additions to the T2 range, Wakey Wakey and Dandy Lightful (I know, great names right!) and both were winners in my mind. I was in a rush when purchasing these and happened to buy the loose leaf versions by mistake, but I was still able to make it work. How? With my explorer flask. I have so many T2 products back home in Australia but the one I can’t live without is my explorer flask. It’s perfect for my travels, with an inbuilt infuser, so I can take the loose leaf version with me if I desire.
A cup of Wakey Wakey was great when I needed a kick of energy. Especially for my early morning flight! The tea is packed with antioxidants, restorative properties, naturally occurring caffeine and a super ingredient: yerba mate, known for its nutritional benefits containing 24 vitamins and minerals and 15 amino acids.
Brewing this tea is super easy and I love the initial fruity aroma I get when scooping the blend into my infuser – no doubt a result of the goji berries. All you need is one teaspoon of tea, fill your cup with water (temperature 80 degrees celsius) and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. I don’t have a fancy kettle at home, nor do I come across them when I travel, so to reach the desired temperature, I fill my cup with ¼ cold water and the rest with boiling. The result is so delicious! Light and refreshing yet subtly sweet.
If you’re like me, sometimes in the winter you still get a craving for something cold. This drink is sooooooo good as an iced tea. Just brew it for double the time and pour it in an ice filled glass. I actually prefer this tea iced, but you’ll have to try it out yourself to decide if you like it better hot or cold.
This is hands-down my favourite T2 drink right now. The dandyelion root gives my body a spring clean, which is perfect for detoxifying after a busy trip, and the cacao gives me antioxidant benefits as well as tasting incredibly delicious! I love sipping on this tea if I’m doing work or when that late afternoon sugar craving hits. I recommend trying this tea with soy or almond milk and a little honey. You’ll thank me later!
For brewing, you need two teaspoons of tea, fill your cup with water (temperature 100 degrees celsius) and let sit for 5-7 minutes. Drink as is or add some milk and honey as suggested above. You honestly don’t know how good this is until you try it. It’s winter in a cup!
I first discovered T2 back home in Australia and when I arrived in London and found out it was here, I was beyond excited! It’s perfect for my travels but whats even better is on Fridays T2 have ‘Fill It Up Fridays’ so if you own a T2 flask or bottle you can take it into one of their stores and they’ll fill it up for free! It’s a tea lover’s dream.
Special thank you to T2 for gifting me with their explorer flask – as always my opinions are my own.
